Allowing inflation to raise

  • The news that petroleum prices are going to be increased, what does it mean to the common man.Why not the Honourable minister of Finance and Minister for Petroleum demand the State Govt to curb the unnecassary expenditures incurred and cut the Sales Tax imposed on Petroleum products. As a Common man,I understand the compulsions of coalition politics. But at times the need of the hour is to show some spine and tell the states to cut down their expenditure and save.Simply increasing the petroleum prices is not a solution.Petroleum trade is mostly Govt owned and organised .So its easy for finance ministers of the States to Tax the petroleum sector Since it brings the much needed revenue that goes in wasteful expenditure,Its been happening year after year.Net result the common man is asked to bear the brunt of it.Since he is in the unorganised sector. He doesnt have anybody to fight his cause. Some states levy a Tax of almost 25% as Sales tax on Petrol and petroleum products.Without giving anything back to the people who pay this tax.Isnt it time the people of the country demand a better form of return on the tax paid.I mean better roads and better facilities. We have some of the worst roads in the country. The so Called National highways make one hang his head in shame,at the kind of roads, the Honourable ministers claim are national carriageways. When the common man is not getting the return he should why he should be burdened with unnecassary increase. Its high time the Central Govt showed some spine and ask the States to cut down on the Sales tax,Which could almost absorb the increase contemplated by the Centre. When Petrol is available at 18/litre in middle east, why should an Indian citizen Pay a high price of Rs 50+/litre ,is it simply to encourage more anti social elements to smuggle petrol without paying the duty along the entire coastline of this great country, either without paying the import duty or paying the sales tax.Is it the idea. Its like killing the Golden Goose. Its high time the Citizens of the country woke up to facts of life and ponder and show their opposition in united manner to periodical increases in price of petroleum products. Its nothing but bad governance,And failure of the Govt of the Day.Its Mafia raj.
